Finding a doctor and support team
We'll help you find and choose among the most appropriate doctors in light of your unique needs and their track records. For one man struggling with chronic pain, we found an appropriate doctor and clinic. For a woman with multiple chemical sensitivities, we found several doctors attuned to her situation. For a young man newly diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, we found support groups and educational resources.


Exploring alternatives to surgery
We can help you explore and consider alternatives to surgery, and find the best place to have surgery, if you decide on that. For a self-employed carpenter, we found an alternative that was vastly less costly, and fully appropriate for his son, in light of the most up-to-date medical research. For a man considering nose surgery, we researched the issue and found a preferable, less intrusive alternative.


Going into the hospital
We can advise you on the best hospital for you and your medical needs. Once you're in the hospital, we'll be with you and will meet with your care team to ensure you get the best care. For example, as described in my book, Getting Your Best Health Care: Real-life Stories for Patient Empowerment, we helped one middle-aged woman choose the Emergency Room of the best hospital, and then met her there. We met with her and hospital staff several times during her hospital stay. Our written plan for after-care also offered advice on getting back on her feet financially.


Transitioning out of the hospital
We can help you define your goals for living fully after leaving the hospital, and help you plan for that. We'll help you assemble the supports you need so you can recover as quickly, smoothly, and fully as possible
